South Participates in Global Character Day on Sept. 27th
We are going to kick off our school wide Character Development Program on Tuesday, September 27 by participating in a Global Character event. Over 75,000 groups in 96 countries have already signed up for the third annual event! Character Day is a free event and global initiative where groups around the world screen films on the science of character development from different perspectives. The films focus on the importance of developing character strengths (resilience, grit, empathy, courage, kindness)–all rooted in evidence-based research.
We are going to kick off our year long exploration of the 7 character traits from Paul Tough’s book on Tuesday by participating in a Global Character event.
Parent Book Study
In conjunction with our school-wide 7 Character Traits initiative, we are launching South’s first ever Parent School-wide Read. The book is Paul Tough’s, How Children Succeed: grit, curiosity, and the hidden power of character. Eighty copies of the book have already been checked out to parents. We have a lot more copies.
