Uniform Policy

South Junior High School Uniform Guidelines:
Statement of Attire Standards 2015-2016

The School Board is permitted to adopt dress codes mandating the use of school uniforms. The purpose of the School Uniform Dress Code shall be to provide additional opportunities for increased school safety; to encourage students to experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging; to encourage an improvement in student behavior; and to encourage a high level of program participation.
The school uniform is effective from arrival to school until departure from school. Uniforms must be appropriate size and condition: free of holes, rips, and markings. Students who do not represent appropriate uniform standards will be required to change upon arrival. Parents/Guardians will be asked to deliver correct clothing or students will be provided with apparel that must be returned at the end of the day. 
·   Standard polo: solid maroon/burgundy, grey, or solid white
·   Polo: (hemmed) two or three buttons at the top front with collar—short or long sleeve. 
·   Designs, emblems, insignias, monograms and logos are not allowed.
·   Only standard, color approved t-shirts may be worn under a polo.
T- Shirts (Undershirts):
·   Standard short sleeve T-shirt: solid maroon, grey, black, or solid white
·   T-shirts are the only clothing permitted u 
·   May not be worn alone.
·   Only South or Borah school purchased sweatshirts (must be school or mascot based).
·   A polo is still required under sweatshirts.
·   Hoods may not be worn up (covering your head) in the building.
·   Only last names may be placed on the back of sweatshirts.
FRIDAY or Game/Event Days ONLY:
·   South club shirts.
·   South athletic jerseys or sport jackets.
·   Borah athletic jerseys or sport jackets.
·   Borah club shirts.

·   Solid color: Khaki or black
·   Style must be cotton twill or cotton blend
·   Solid dark black jeans are acceptable. 
·   ALL pants must be worn at waistline and worn as pants (not rolling them up to be shorts).
·   No sweatpants, spandex, workout attire, jeggings or leggings may be worn. Special note: Jeggings/leggings may be worn under skirts as long as they are solid black or khaki in color.
·   Prominent designs, emblems, insignias, monograms or logos are NOT allowed.
·   Solid color: Khaki or Black
·   Style must be cotton twill or cotton blend
·   Must be worn at waistline.
·   Length: No shorter than 2” (2 inches) above the knee
·   Special note: Jeggings, leggings, or tights may be worn under skirts as long as they are solid black or khaki in color.
·   Designs, emblems, insignias, monograms and logos are NOT allowed.
·   No altering of clothing with rubber bands, cutting, tying, taping, writing, customized stitching, stickers, or other decorations on clothing.
·   No slippers (if they look like slippers, they will be considered slippers).
·   Hats, scarves, and gloves (arm covers) may not be worn in building. Bandanas may not be worn on campus.
·   Belts must be tucked in, not hanging below the belt loop waistline.
