Community Schools

A community school is a neighborhood public school that partners with community organizations to act as a hub for local resources and opportunities. Community Schools help remove barriers to learning by offering services like health care, social services, and family support, like food and clothing, directly at the school site.

South Community School, located in Room #118, is a student and family center where we can explore interests through creative inquiry and enrichment programming alongside generous community volunteers and partners. This may look like community partners (ex. artists, professionals, athletes, etc.) visiting our school and giving a lunchtime talk or workshop on a topic with the purpose of expanding learning, community connection, and student and family engagement.

Parents and community members play a huge role in the success of a community school and are invited to take part in the collaborative leadership and shared decision-making that makes a difference in our school and community.

At South Community School, we are dedicated to supporting our families and students by opening doors and clearing the path to success.
